The Primary School of St Mary and St MartinLet your light shine – Matthew 5:16

WC 12th October 2026

Good afternoon and happy half term!

We have had a lovely final week of half term in Blue Class.

This week, the children have been busy becoming young entrepreneurs! As part of our D&T project, they have designed and made their own nutritious burritos before creating adverts to promote their delicious creations! (See photos below)

Blue Class have also been busy wrapping their shoeboxes in Christmas paper, ready to be filled over half term as part of the Christmas Shoebox Appeal! The children are excited to take part and help spread a little kindness and joy to others this Christmas. Thank you for your support with this lovely project!

We also enjoyed our well-earned class treat after collecting 15 stars! The children chose to celebrate by watching a film with popcorn and hot chocolate. Well done, Team Blue!

Homework

Instead of our usual spelling homework, I have set the children a creative art project to enjoy over half term!

The children have been invited to take part in the Blyth Christmas Lights Art Competition by creating a piece of artwork illustrating a Christmas carol of their choice.

They can use A4 or A3 paper and are encouraged to be as imaginative and creative as they like! It is the children’s choice as to whether they would like to include the carol’s lyrics or not.

All artworks should be returned to school by Friday 6th November, ready to be judged and displayed as part of the Christmas lights celebrations.

Awards

A huge well done to Evelyn, who received our Gold Award this week, Isabella who received our Magnificent Manners award and Joshua, who received our Excellent Effort Award. We are so proud of you!

Wishing you all a lovely, restful half-term break!
