Happy Friday!

This week, we have continued our exploration of our feelings. We've moved on from looking at our basic feelings and onto what it feels like when they become too large, and then how we can help ourselves and our friends when that happens. We've enjoyed the story of The Brain House and all the different emotion characters. We've also had a lot of fun comparing and ordering sizes in our maths and have done some great funky fingers skills with pom poms and tweezers. There has been a range of sensory materials on the malleable table, including sand, shampoo, foam and more which has been very popular to practice writing our sounds in.

This week in Phonics, we have started to practice our segmenting skills which is how we write words. I will put a couple of photos and an explanation of the method under the Phonics section of the class page, to support you at home. 

In maths, we've been looking at measurements. We've had a look at comparing sizes, comparing mass and even capacity and talking about what they mean. We've had a lot of fun doing size hunts outside; if you start with one item, can you then find something bigger/smaller than it and then find something else bigger/smaller than that. 

A couple of reminders for upcoming dates; 

The harvest festival at church is on Thurs 8th Oct at 2.30pm and all parents are invited to come and watch. We have been practicing a song for it.

And we have another BPBP coffee afternoon on Tues 13th Oct at 1.30pm in the school hall.
