Good afternoon and happy Friday!

This week saw Blue Class head out for our first local visit of the year. As our RE lesson focused on understanding how spirituality can be expressed through buildings, we headed to church to see this for ourselves.

As we explored, we looked carefully at the features around us and thought about how the building made us feel. It was a wonderful opportunity to bring our RE learning to life and reflect on how a special place can create feelings of awe, wonder, peace and connection. The children were wonderful ambassadors for our school, showing great respect throughout our time in church and when walking through the village. (See photographs below)

In English this week, we began writing our class innovated text. The children have come up with some fantastic ideas and I look forward to seeing what else they can come up with as we continue our story.

In maths, we have completed our unit on Place Value, this means that next week we will begin working on addition and subtraction.

This year, our Harvest Festival will take place in Church on Thursday 8^th October at 2:30pm.

Donations will be gratefully received into school from Monday 5^th October.

Awards

A huge well done to Alice, who received our Gold Award this week, to Lilly, who received our Excellent Effort Award and to Freddie, who received our Magnificent Manners award. They were thoroughly deserved!

Reading

Please can you ensure that your child reads at least three times each week and that it is recorded in their planner. Reading is part of your child’s homework and will be checked each Friday.

Key dates:

• Monday 5^th October onwards – Harvest Donations welcomed into school
• Thursday 8^th October – Harvest Festival in Church @ 2:30pm
• 13^th October - BPBP coffee morning – 1:30pm
• P.E. will be on a Thursday afternoon. Please can all children bring their PE kit on a Monday, it will then be returned on a Friday.
• Homework and spellings have been handed out today and will be due in on Friday.
