Week 2 - w/c Monday 7th September
Good afternoon,
We have had a lovely first full week in Year 2! The children have earnt more class tokens for having a positive attitude towards their new learning.
A big well done to the award winners this week, Isy, Eleanor and William. A further congratulations to the new members of School Council, Orla and Millie, and the new Eco Club members, Isy and Alex. Well done to everyone who put themselves forward, it was a very close vote!
In maths this week, the children have been learning about place value. They have been partitioning numbers into tens and ones and representing this using objects, place value charts and part-whole models.
In literacy, we are focusing on the story 'The Lion Inside'. The children have been learning to recite the story, using pictures and actions to help them remember. I have attached a photo of the class story map so they can tell you the story at home. Knowing our class story well really helps the children when it comes to writing their own story based on the class text.
