The Primary School of St Mary and St MartinLet your light shine – Matthew 5:16

WC 14th September 2026

Good afternoon,

What another fantastic week we have had in Blue Class!

In History, we have been finding out what a Maya city-state would have looked like, before having a go at designing and drawing our own. The children really enjoyed bringing their learning to life!

In Reading, we are thoroughly enjoying following Percy’s journey to Camp Half-Blood. I know some of the children are beyond excited to find out what happens next!

In English, the children have worked incredibly hard on the grammatical features we have ‘magpied’ from our model text, The Game. They have explored how authors use these features to make their writing exciting and effective, and we are looking forward to putting all of this learning into action when we plan our own innovated versions of The Game next week.

Thank you so much to the parents who attended the BPBP coffee morning this week, it was fantastic to hear what a great turn out it was. The next coffee morning will take place on Tuesday 13th October at 1:30pm.

Awards

A huge well done to Niamh, who received our Gold Award this week, and to Teddie, who received our Magnificent Manners award. They were both thoroughly deserved!

Reading

Please can you ensure that your child reads at least three times each week and that it is recorded in their planner. Reading is part of your child’s homework and will be checked each Friday.

Key dates:

  • P.E. will be on a Thursday afternoon. Please can all children bring their PE kit on a Monday, it will then be returned on a Friday.
  • Homework and spellings have been handed out today and will be due in on Friday.
  • 13th October - BPBP coffee morning – 1:30pm

If you have any questions or messages, please write a note in your child’s planner and ask them to hand it directly to me. Have a wonderful weekend and I look forward to seeing you all again on Monday!
