Happy Friday!
This week our focus story has been The Rainbow Fish and we've done lots of discussion and thinking about how to be a kind friend, how to share and the little ways we can spread happiness to those around us. We've been using different materials to print rainbow fish scales, have had lots of fun with the under the sea small world and we've been using lots of pretty little gems to get some funky finger practice as we decorated some sea critters.
We used the Rainbow fish in our first Drawing club this week; where we draw a picture to do with a story and then we think of fun ways to change it up by writing our magic sentence. I have been very impressed with everyone's effort at hearing and writing their sounds!
In phonics, we have met our first digraph! A digraph is when there are 2 letters that make 1 sound; "ck" as in "duck" is our digraph. See if they can point it out to you in their flashcards, as I have updated everyone's pencil cases with the latest sounds and HFWs.
I have also popped into bookbags a little sheet with all our sounds to support some handwriting at home. We're pushing that practice a lot at school and do handwriting every day.
Today, we have had a lot of fun taking part in the house scarecrow competition. I'm sure you will agree that they all looked amazing! We're all looking forward to more house events that will take place through the year.
Next week, don't forget that it is our Harvest Service at Church on Thursday at 2.30pm. We will be performing a song together, and all children (unless booked into club) will need collecting from the church at the end please.
A big well done to Callie for getting the gold award, and have a wonderful weekend everyone!
