Happy Friday!

This week we have been exploring The Colour Monster! We've been thinking about different feelings, how they make us feel inside, and what we can do to help ourselves and our friends to feel those more positive colours. We've been doing lots of movement activities; acting out emotions, and using scarves and instruments to represent them. We have worked together to create a lovely new display showcasing some colour monster collages and lots of very imaginative monster drawings.

If you would like to share a photo for our new reading area display, it's not too late. You can still take a photo of your child reading their favorite story in a funny place (with a quote about why they like it); the children have really enjoyed seeing themselves and their friends on the wall.

Phonics is going full steam ahead and we've been blending and reading every day, please make sure you are practicing at home throughout the week and make sure those books are staying in bookbags please. They will be changed each Monday, but reading could happen any day.

You have your pencil cases and also a SATPIN dice game, but a fun one which we played as a class today is https://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/resources/phase/2/buried-treasure . Select Phase 2 and sound "n" for where we are currently, but you can add onto the sounds used as we progress through the year.

In maths, we've continued sorting and grouping but made it a bit more of a challenge by making more specific sorting rules. Having to think what is similar about a random group, whilst also cancelling out incorrect answers is quite tricky, so you might like to practice at home to support this learning.

For example, get a group of dinosaurs; you could sort a group using a variety of rules "They are all big/all have horns/all have 4 legs" and so on. Take turns creating a sorting rule and have each other guess it. We've spent time explaining why certain rules are incorrect as well as guessing the correct one.

A gentle reminder to please label all belongings, if a jumper/cardigan has a name in, it will likely make its way home.

A big well done to Miles for getting the Gold Award this week, and have a wonderful weekend everyone  :)
